Chad Eicher, Interventional Radiologist at MIC Imaging and Procedure Center (micimagingcenter.com)

Tell us a little about your business – MIC is a locally owned full-service patient-centered imaging and procedure center. Our diagnostic imaging services include radiography (x-ray), DEXA scans, mammography, ultrasound, CT, and MRI. We also provide a full line of Interventional Radiology services including treatments for varicose veins, uterine fibroids, plantar fasciitis, prostate enlargement, non-healing wounds, headaches, back pain, joint pain, and image guided biopsies.

How did you get started in the business? – I went to medical school to help people and to make the greatest positive impact I could in people’s lives. I chose Interventional Radiology as a specialty because it offers ways to help people in the most non-invasive manner possible, with constant new innovations in the field. As a practicing Interventional Radiologist in Omaha since 2010, I’ve often seen family members struggle to navigate the sometimes complex health system. It became clear that there was a need for an outpatient center that could provide the highest quality care in the most convenient patient friendly manner possible.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Like many physicians, and anyone with a busy career, the balance of professional demands and setting aside dedicated time with family and friends can be challenging. Thankfully, I have a great family, friends, and colleagues that make that possible, and understand when I fall short.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – The wins we attain in medicine are only accomplished with a dedicated team approach. I hope that I have been able to foster a team approach at the facilities at which I have worked, and to the extent that I have done so, I would say that has been my most important achievement.

Tell us a little about your family. – I have been married for 29 years, and we have six children – three boys and three girls – two of whom were adopted from South Korea and who range in age from 15 to 28. This past December, we were blessed with our first grandchild.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – The biggest and most important decision was to get married, and shortly thereafter, start a family. The foundation and perspective provided by doing so have made everything else that followed possible. Professionally, the biggest turning point was in college when I shadowed a cardiothoracic surgeon in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was at that point that I knew I would pursue a career in medicine.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – All things sports, whether its attending events or participating, but especially if it involves family and friends.
If you could have a super power, what would it be? – Healing

Which talent would you most like to have? – Being multilingual.

What is your favorite local Omaha restaurant? – I’d choose my wife’s home cooking over any restaurant meal – no spot can compare.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Abraham Lincoln
