Tell us a little bit about your business. – We were very purposeful when we chose our clinic name: K2 Holistic Health (k2holistichealth.com). K2 is one of the highest and most challenging mountains in the world. We recognize that every one of our patients are facing a challenging mountain of their own: whether it is chronic pain, neuropathy, fatigue, weight gain, hormone imbalances or injury. Our mission is to overcome those obstacles and help each person climb those very mountains. K2 also represents the two principles that guide our care: Kinetics (how the body moves) and Kinesthetics (the neurology behind the movement). Restoring our patients’ movement and neurology is fundamental in our treatments. By integrating medical care, rehabilitation and performance optimization, we help our patients reclaim their health.

How did you get started in the business? – I grew up in a very medical family. However, working several years in ER and primary care had taught me that the medical system is broken, as we delay death in the ER only to shuffle those patients back to primary care for more and more medications that address different symptoms but fail to actually address the core issues that lead to pathology. Each step in my professional journey has taken me closer and closer to founding K2 Holistic Health: a clinic grounded in helping our patients reclaim their health. Our clinic integrates the best of the medical world, physical therapy world and chiropractic care, with a bonus specialty in hormones and peptides. Our orthopedics are grounded in imaging guided procedures with regenerative medicine, PRP, and Sarapin. Our neurology is grounded in nutritional overhaul, neurogenesis and addressing the cause of the neuropathy. Our endocrine focus is grounded in understanding how systemic inflammation leads to insulin resistance, which leads to mitochondrial dysfunction, and how this pathological process can be corrected with hormone and peptide balancing.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – My answer would definitely be founding this clinic and growing it this fast. Yet, K2 Holistic Health isn’t my achievement. This clinic is here to help others because of the many people who have poured their lives into this clinic (and into mine as well). My incredible wife Carley, who has been instrumental in reshaping my life, and who has been so supportive as we excitedly drew what ended up being the clinic name, logo and organizational structure with a crayon on a children’s menu in an Omaha restaurant. My incredible parents Dan and Donna, whose love and support has sustained both the clinic and my own life. My incredible staff who have believed in our clinic- and in me—so much as to get through those tough early months together. My incredible patients, many of whom have followed me from one clinic to another, as they appreciated something about my journey. To Ashley Tobias, Manny Walker and my incredible friends in our networking groups who accepted me. The list could go on and on, but I am limited by a word count in this article. :)

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – I don’t think there is a song that better fits my life than “Growing Young”, by Rich Mullins. Those lyrics are loaded! They speak to someone making choices they deeply regret, and yet that isn’t the end for them. There can still be love and redemption. “Was Your love stronger than my foolish pride?” Then those lyrics that follow, with the way he sings it? That hits home. This is the theme song for my life.
