Tell us a little about your business. – Cabinet IQ of Omaha (cabinetiq.com) is a cabinet and countertop company proudly serving Omaha and the surrounding areas. Our beautiful showroom, located at 98th and Giles in La Vista, features some of our eight beautiful cabinet lines and a wide variety of countertop options. We also have a full-time designer who is dedicated to bringing your dream space to life. Since we’re a small team of just three people, you’ll receive personalized service and attention.
How did you get started in the business? – My husband and I spent a long time researching franchise opportunities, especially in the home services industry. We were drawn to Cabinet IQ because of its leadership, team and strong values. Our goal was to bring a company to the Omaha area that homeowners could trust—one that is known for excellent communication, outstanding customer service and high-quality work.
Tell us a little about your family. – My husband Greg and I have been married for 17 years and have 2 children: a daughter Everly who is 16 and Huxley, our son, is 14. We also have a 4 year old Bernese Mountain Dog named Martha.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I love watching my kids play sports, reading a good book and spending time with my family.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”
Which talent would you most like to have? – I would love to learn how to play both the guitar and the piano. I took piano lessons for many years, but it never really stuck. Music has always been a big part of my life, and being able to play it myself is something I think would be incredibly rewarding and good for my soul.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – I am also an elementary educator with 21 years of experience. I taught fourth grade for 12 years, spent six years as a substitute teacher, and am beginning my fourth year teaching High Ability Learners in grades 3–6.
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – It’s so hard to pick one favorite book for me, so I’ll say my latest favorite was Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez.
What is your favorite local Omaha restaurant? – Another difficult decision! I’d probably say The Drover or Talus.
If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – I think it would be fun to have dinner with Will Ferrell. I’d love to talk with him about all the different roles he’s played and listen to him do different impersonations.
If our readers would like to contact you, how should they do so? – The best way to get ahold of me is by email at Kali@CabinetIQ.com. You can also call the showroom at (531) 228-4747.
