River City Six – Jorge Andazola

Meet Jorge Andazola, the owner of Red Lion Roofing (RedLionRoofing.com).

Tell us a little about your business.

Red Lion Roofing is a local company that is dedicated to helping our customers navigate their exterior home repair projects from start to finish. What truly sets us apart is our passion for customer satisfaction. We enjoy delighting our customers by going the extra mile on every job no matter how large or small.

How did you get started in the business?

I’m originally from Grand Island, NE. After I graduated high school, I attended UNL and then transferred to Nebraska Wesleyan University, where I obtained my business degree with a project management certification. I actually started roofing with my neighbor as a weekend job, mainly doing new construction for builders in Lincoln. I learned from him and when he moved to Texas, I bought his company and ran it as a side job for about two years. When I saw that I needed to focus on either my roofing or corporate career, I decided corporate. About a year later, I lost my corporate job due to restructuring.  At that point, I was panicking; I had not been in the job market in over 12 years. I interviewed for various positions with no luck. After about 3 months, I had a long heart-to-heart talk with my wife and we decided to go all-in on starting our own roofing company. Best decision, hands down! With the help of my good friend, Red Lion Roofing was started in 2017. Thanks to hard work and countless hours behind the wheel, we are making moves in the right direction to become a household name when it comes to roofing and exterior craftsmanship.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?

I’m extremely proud of starting my own business, which was a lifelong dream of mine.

Tell us a little about your family.

My family is absolutely amazing. My wife Jessie and I have four children and a dog. Much of our free time is devoted to running our kiddos around to sporting events and activities, and we love spending time together, especially on family vacations. Family is the most important thing to me; everything I do, I do for them.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?

Leaving the corporate world and all of the security and perks that come along with it behind to start out on my own. This was a scary/exciting/challenging/satisfying experience.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

I do enjoy a day to Netflix binge!

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Observing both of my parents and the work ethic that they brought to everything they did was very inspiring. My dad always reiterated to me that everything I do, do it with a sense of pride. To this day it keeps me very motivated to go the extra mile.
