Tell me a little about your business. – Physicians Mutual Insurance Company is a leading insurer in individual health, life and retirement products. As an insurance agent, I help provide solutions for my customers. That means I listen closely to my customers’ needs, answer their questions, then I help them sort out the details. I specialize in Medicare Supplement insurance and safe money investments.

How did you get started in the business? – I was looking at the landscape of my career at the time and exploring other options when I was told about a career in the insurance industry.  I have always been in sales, so it ended up being the perfect fit!

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – At first it was definitely learning the products and the business model.  As my business has continued to grow, now it’s learning how to manage a busy work load that keeps my career successful while scheduling enough family and fun time.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – To qualify for convention every year as a top producer and to be elected to the Board of Directors for NAIFA-Omaha (National Association of Financial Advisors). I also want to qualify for the MDRT for 2013. As the premier association for financial professionals, only top producers can achieve this designation.

Tell me a little about your family. – I’ve been married to my wife, Jill, for 27 years. My son Tyler works for Monke Brothers Fertilizer in Waterloo and recently got engaged.  My oldest daughter MacKenzie works for Catholic Health Partners in Lincoln and is also recently engaged. My younger daughter Marissa is a freshman at Northwest Missouri State University.  It’s going to be crazy over the next few years with two weddings!

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – To enjoy the outdoors, whether it’s fishing in my boat or out in the duck blind with buddies, clients or family. I also do quite a bit of barbequing.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I’ve refereed high school and collegiate wrestling for almost 30 years and it has taken me to many states for state and national tournaments.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Remember that family should always come first. All the money in the world will never replace your loved ones.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Champion

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – Woodworking/Carpentry–I can build or remodel about anything.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey.

What is your favorite TV show? – Diners, Drive-ins and Dives

What is your favorite local restaurant? – Leroy’s Steakhouse (formerly The Rawhide) in North Bend, NE.
