Tell us a little about your business. – Cox Communications is part of the Cox Enterprise family (inclusive of Cox Communications, Cox Media, and Cox Automotive). We are a privately held company that is family owned with key values that extend throughout every part of the organization focusing on the employee, diversity, clients served, embracing technology, and supporting the community to help better shape the world.

In Cox Business, the focus is to fulfill the businesses needs of our clients to help accomplish their goals through voice, internet, and television services. This extends from simple to Enterprise level solutions (such as fiber based products to wide area networking expanding within and outside of the Omaha Metro).

How did you get started in the business? – I started in telecom as a Sales Representative for a third party agency. I was fortunate to have a great mentor that recruited me into the company. She guided me along the way believing in my sales leadership ability and continued to invest in my success even through to present day.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – A challenge that is necessary as a leader but one that cannot be taken lightly is when you need to communicate news that you know has a direct impact on an individual/group mentally and emotionally.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – The greatest achievements are the ones experienced daily when there is an opportunity to see someone that I have directly impacted succeed by accomplishing a personal goal of their own or take their potential to the next level.

Tell us a little about your family. – I have a wonderful husband (Justin) and three terrific children: Ava (6), Olivia (5), and Eli (3). All of which keep me on my toes! I also have a large extended family located in Central Iowa.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – The biggest turning point in my life was when we lost our twin daughter, Ellie, at 17 days old. Olivia and Ellie were born at 24 weeks.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – There have been many staples throughout my life that family, friends, colleagues or even short encounters with acquaintances have shared. Ultimately, the best advice was from my father growing up. It was consistent, steadfast, and true based off of the Serenity Prayer premise. The advice is to always acknowledge the reality you face in front of you, accept what you cannot change and have courage to change the things you can – if you focus your energy there and let go of everything else, you have no path to take except for success and peace.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – This depends on the day! If it is a nice day outside, there is nothing better than being outside with the kids and getting active. If it is rainy or cold, snuggling up on the couch and watching a movie or TV series is a perfect location on a day off.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Genuine.
