The Nebraska Credit Union League (nebrcul.org) is pleased to announce the selection of L. James Wright as its next Chief Advocacy Officer, effective September 1. The League is the state trade association and primary advocacy organization for Nebraska’s not-for-profit, member-owned credit unions.
“James Wright’s extensive experience in local, state and federal government, as well as his understanding of the issues impacting Nebraska’s credit unions, makes him the perfect fit for our organization,” said Brandon Luetkenhaus, president and CEO of the League. “James is a well-respected leader that has demonstrated an ability to bring people together to get the hard things done, and I couldn’t be more excited to have him on our team.”
James has over two decades of experience in government policy and constituent services, having served for three U.S. congressmen, a U.S. senator, a governor and two Omaha mayors. He currently serves as deputy chief of staff for Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District Congressman Don Bacon. His responsibilities include overseeing district staff and activities, advising congressman on policy objectives, and working with officials from both public and private sectors.
Outside of government, James is active in the community, including serving on the Nebraska Arts Council board and being involved with the Nebraska Lutheran Outdoor Ministries and Omaha Community Playhouse.
