American Heart Association Names Chris Shives Nebraska Executive Director

The American Heart Association (AHA; www.heart.org/Omaha) is pleased to announce that Chris Shives has been named Nebraska’s executive director. In this role, Shives will oversee the fundraising and community engagement initiatives that create longer, healthier lives for all living in Nebraska.

Shives has nine years of AHA experience as Heart Walk director, Midwest Affiliate Heart Walk and consultant, and five years as the regional vice president for youth market in Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas. For 18 months, Shives worked with Clarkson College, establishing their Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Adams State University in Alamosa, CO.

“Chris is a thought-leader, an innovator, and a colleague who truly creates impact in every role he plays,” said Kevin Harker, executive vice president of the American Heart Association’s Midwest Region. “We are excited to see him return to the AHA and step into this important leadership role.”
