Heartland Hope Mission (www.heartlandhopemission.org) will be hosting its annual Stuff a Truck food drive at all Omaha area Hy-Vee stores during the third week in October. Volunteers are needed to serve 2.5-hour shifts between October 20-23 to help fight hunger in the community.

The goal of this event is to feed families for the holiday season. Due to the current inflation, pantry numbers are up 45% and Heartland anticipates serving more families during the holidays this year.  Volunteers will greet shoppers as they enter Hy-Vee and encourage them to purchase $5 or $10 food bags for families in need. This is a family-friendly volunteer event. Parents with children of all ages are invited to serve together to build awareness about food insecurity in our own communities. All food items and funds raised during this at Stuff a Truck will go towards providing Thanksgiving and Christmas food items for families in need to cook at home. You can sign up to volunteer by emailing Amanda@HeartlandHopeMission.org.

Heartland Hope Mission operates one of the largest food pantries in the state of Nebraska. They primarily serve working poor families and those facing a crisis by providing a week’s supply of food, as well as clothing, diapers, job resources, and community referrals.
