Vision Maker Media to Executively Produce 14 Television Projects for PBS Broadcasting

Fourteen television projects were selected to be executively produced by Vision Maker Media (visionmakermedia.org) for PBS television broadcasting. The filmmakers represent 23 different nations with a total of $841,522 in funding support.

Each year, Vision Maker Media funds media projects intended for PBS broadcasting that represent different cultures, experiences, and perspectives of Native Americans and Alaska Natives. This year, the topics are centered around social justice, climate and environment, health and wellness, democracy, and arts. The films are reviewed by a panel of public media programmers and Native American filmmakers and board approved based on Native involvement, relevance, guideline eligibility, and meeting standards of PBS broadcast quality.

“It is an honor for everyone at Vision Maker Media to be part of the creation of these important stories being told by and about Native Americans for public media,” said Executive Director Francene Blythe-Lewis.

Vision Maker Media (VMM) has been the premiere source of public media by and about Native Americans for 45 years. They work with VMM funded producers to develop, produce, and distribute programs for all public media and create partnerships with Tribal nations, Indian organizations, and Native communities in order to increase the number of American Indians and Alaska Natives producing public broadcasting programs.
