September was a vibrant celebration of National Recovery Month at Santa Monica House (santamonicahouse.org). The organization honored the theme by wearing purple throughout the month, a simple yet powerful way to show solidarity and raise awareness for recovery.
The festivities began with a Parking Lot Art Contest, where clients transformed the pavement into colorful expressions of hope and resilience. A Food Truck Night and Recovery Games followed, reminding everyone that there is strength and joy in sobriety.
As Santa Monica House moved into October, the team carried that same energy into the United Way Campaign, making it a season of giving and connection. Staff came together for spirited activities, including costume contests, pumpkin decorating, treat stations, a chili cook-off, and a bake-off. These events not only raised funds for a great cause but also strengthened the sense of community that makes Santa Monica House so special.
From art and awareness to laughter and friendly competition, these past months have shown what’s possible when people come together with purpose and heart. Santa Monica House looks forward to carrying this positive momentum into the holiday season.
