The Papillion IAFF Local #3767 has generously donated the cost of an entire flagpole to the Papillion Community Foundation for the Veterans Park project. The Veterans Park is a newly designated park in Papillion which celebrates the service of Sarpy County veterans.
The park project, which is a collaboration with the Papillion Community Foundation, City of Papillion and Papillion American Legion Post #32, is well underway with the initial design phase to be completed by November 11, 2015, in time for a special Veteran’s Day celebration where the flags will be dedicated and the Veteran’s Walls will be unveiled. The park will feature flags from all military branches and a POW/MIA flag. Future designs for the park include a military timeline, events plaza and pergola.
The Veterans Park project began with the work of several community organizations including the Papillion Junior Women’s Club, the Papillion Garden Club and City Councilman Steve Engberg along with the City of Papillion. The Papillion Community Foundation has been working with the Papillion American Legion Post #32 to help raise funds for the park costs. The entire community is invited to the Veteran’s Day Dedication and Celebration on November 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Veterans Park.
