Open Door Mission (opendoormission.org) is inviting the community to share love and support with new mothers and babies experiencing homelessness through its Hearts of Hope Baby Showers initiative, running Feb. 1–28. Participants can host their own baby shower to bless families staying at Lydia House. Open Door Mission makes hosting simple by providing wish lists, invitations, and game ideas to help create a meaningful and fun event. Sign up at opendoormission.org/events/lydia-house-baby-shower.

Those who prefer to shop directly can purchase items through Open Door Mission’s Amazon wish list or baby registries at Target and Walmart, with items shipped straight to the Mission. Links to all registries can be found at opendoormission.org/urgent-needs/hearts-baby-shower.

Needed items include teething rings, pacifiers, strollers, car booster seats, baby shampoo, bottles, onesies, baby blankets, gentle laundry detergent, and jumpers. Donations may be dropped off Tues. – Sat. from 8:30
a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Elkhorn Donation Drop-Off (1620 N. 203rd St.) or Timberlake Outreach Center (2107 E. Locust St.). Open Door Mission is a Gospel Rescue Mission meeting the needs of individuals and families while inspiring hope for lasting change. Each day, the Mission provides 917 shelter beds, serves over 5,366 meals, and supports more than 1,270 people living in poverty.
