In March, No More Empty Pots launched Meet the Producer, a new monthly event series designed to connect community members directly with the local farmers growing food in Omaha and surrounding communities.

Held on the last Saturday of each month from March through October, the free, drop-in open house takes place inside the organization’s Micro Market
storefront, located within its greenhouse facility in the Highlander neighborhood of North Omaha. The Micro Market exclusively sources its products
from local growers and producers.

Each event features a local farmer or entrepreneur, giving guests the opportunity to learn about regenerative growing practices, sample products, and hear firsthand the stories that shape our regional food system. The series creates a welcoming, interactive space where attendees can ask questions and better understand how food moves from farm to table.

The inaugural event spotlighted Rhett of Peko Farms, an urban farmer cultivating more than 30 varieties of microgreens in North Omaha.

“We are happy to turn the spotlight toward the farmers and producers behind the products we offer,” said Talia McGill, President/CEO of No More Empty Pots. “We hope the event is both educational and encourages the community to support local producers.”

Future events will continue monthly from noon to 2 p.m. on May 30, June 27, July 25, August 29, September 26, and October 31.

Meet the Producer reflects No More Empty Pots’ commitment to food systems education, community collaboration, and equitable access to fresh, locally sourced foods. More information available at nmepomaha.org.
