The Eastern Nebraska Veterans’ Home (ENVH) has officially adopted the Forget Me Not Project, originated by a World War II female veteran from Biloxi, Mississippi. The project entails development on the ENVH grounds to be designated as an area to honor women veterans by planting Forget Me Not flowers, as well as adding an inscribed bench and patio area surrounding the flowers. The project is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2016. ENVH will be encouraging the other three Veterans’ Homes in Nebraska to adopt the challenge as well!

All veterans who served on active duty, who were discharged or otherwise separated with a characterization of honorable or general (under honorable conditions) and who lived in Nebraska at least two years during their lifetime are eligible to live at the DHHS Veterans’ Homes across Nebraska. Spouses, widows and widowers of veterans along with Gold Star mothers and fathers are eligible under similar requirements.
