The Midlands chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association hosted its All Stars Gala on Saturday, July 19, at the Hilton Hotel in Omaha. The evening featured a special appearance by actor and producer Brett Cullen, who was the event’s guest speaker. Currently shooting the film It Snows All the Time, based on a true story about a family’s experience with dementia, Cullen plays the role of the father who is living with dementia.
It Snows All the Time is the first feature film produced by actor and Omaha native Erich Hover, whose father is living with dementia. Helping raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, the film tells the story of Hover’s father and family. The All Stars Gala also featured a special appearance by Hover, who was guest speaker at the Midlands Chapter’s Oscar Night event last year.
In addition to hearing Cullen discuss his upcoming film and experience with Alzheimer’s, guests also enjoyed dinner and a silent auction. Funds raised by the All Stars Gala will benefit the Midlands chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, helping provide care and support services to Nebraska and Iowa residents, fund Alzheimer’s research and advocate for Alzheimer’s-related legislative issues.
