Mosaic in Omaha Expands Opportunities through “Mosaic at Home”

“Mosaic at Home” provider Madonna Bondilla describes her family’s experience hosting Mosaic in Omaha (mosaicinfo.org) client Richard Hiatt as the best possible gift to her family.

“My husband Manny and I have always believed we were meant to be the hands and feet of Jesus,” she said. “To be a part of Richard living his life to the fullest, something he very much deserves, is an honor for us.”

Through “Mosaic at Home,” the person with IDD shares a residence with a Mosaic independent contractor who helps the person be an active member of the household and the greater community. Madonna and her husband have hosted Richard in their home since 2018. She had been an educator for individuals with special needs in the past and said the opportunity with Mosaic was the next logical step.

For Elliott and Darlene Alexander, being host home providers allows them to care for two individuals in their home, while maintaining a consistent, reliable schedule for their family. “We get to care for these individuals, who have become a part of our family,” Elliott said. “I think we both have such a passion for serving.  But it also allows us to spend more time with our son and daughter.”

Mosaic in Omaha offers services to empower people with disabilities, mental and behavioral health needs, and autism, as well as aging adults to live their best life. For additional information on Mosaic at Home, please contact (402) 896-9988, Ext. 51035, or visit mosaicinfo.org.
