OBI Creative Acquires MediaWorks

OBI Creative (www.obicreative.com), a research-based, innovation-driven, full-service advertising agency, has announced a major investment in the region by purchasing MediaWorks, an Omaha-based media planning and buying agency.

The acquisition of MediaWorks, co-founded in 1983 by owner Teri Vierregger and longtime media director Ruth Humpal, expands OBI’s expertise in media planning and buying, while continuing to offer clients market and customer research, brand strategy, public relations, digital and social media services in addition to award-winning creative. Clients of MediaWorks include regional healthcare, retail, special events and higher education. They will continue to serve their portfolio of clients going forward as well as those of OBI.

In addition to Vierregger, who will be director of media services for OBI, Account Director Mary Wajda and Resource and Reporting Manager Valerie Sutko also join the OBI team. Wajda has an extensive media career that spans nearly 35 years having worked in radio traffic, sales and management, broadcast production as well as various advertising agencies before joining MediaWorks. Sutko has extensive experience in accounts receivables and payables and assists in the monthly media invoice reconciliation to ensure stewardship of the contracts and certainty that the media vendors honor what was promised to clients.

The acquisition, the second one this year, was finalized on March 1. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
