Greater Omaha Chamber Presents Conference on Opportunity, Diversity and Equity

The Greater Omaha Chamber (omahachamber.org/theconference) is hosting a virtual conference October 15-16—The Conference on Opportunity, Diversity and Equity—to teach businesses how to transform workplaces and develop strategies to address the society disparities that create barriers to access. A virtual platform overview runs from 8:45 to 9 a.m. on October 14, followed by a preconference professional development session, then various sessions throughout October 15 and 16. Keynote speakers include high-school football coach Rob Mendez, who was born with tetra-amelia syndrome—a rare disorder that caused him to be born without arms or legs—to share his story with Omaha. The conference also features Michele Meyer-Shipp, the chief diversity and inclusion officer at KPMG LLP.

Rob’s work has been recognized nationally, including a feature on SportsCenter, an appearance in the 2019 Google Year in Review video, and an article in USA Today, highlighting his visits with various NFL Teams. At the 2019 ESPY’s, Coach Mendez was honored with the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance. Michele leads KPMG’s diversity and inclusion efforts relating to workforce, workplace, and marketplace. She also serves on many industry and association task forces and committees, including Twitter’s Diversity Advisory Council, Working Mother Media’s Multicultural Advisory Board, and National Organization on Diversity, and is a contributor to Yahoo! Finance News.

You may purchase individual, group, or training add-on tickets via the Greater Omaha Chamber website at omahachamber.org/theconference. Reservations are due by October 11.
