FBG Service Corporation Celebrates 60 Years
FBG Service Corporation (FBGServices.com), a commercial cleaning and facilities maintenance company, celebrated its 60th year in business in October. Headquartered in Omaha, the 100% employee-owned company delivers and manages services across the U.S. With district offices in Colorado Springs, Omaha, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, the Quad Cities, and Minnesota, FBG employs approximately 1,300 people nationwide.
Wayne Simmonds founded what would become FBG Service Corporation predecessor company, Floor Brite, in Omaha in the mid 1950s. FBG became incorporated in 1960. Wayne’s daughter, Terri Gogetap, currently serves as president and CEO. Mr. Simmonds passed away in June of 2019 at the age of 80. Simmonds created an entrepreneurial work environment right from the start.
“Employees have always been empowered to make the right decisions for our clients. My father wanted our teams to think of themselves as owners of the company. It was always his dream to share the company ownership with our employees,” said Gogetap. In 1994 FBG awarded its first ESOP certificates to qualified employees. “Dad felt if employees have a stake in the game, they are more likely to care more, work harder and deliver consistent results,” she continued.
“Who would have thought we would be celebrating in the midst one of our most challenging years yet. Demand for our office disinfection services have increased exponentially, and we’ve had to intensely train even more Emergency Response team members to handle that demand across our service area,” Gogetap said. “The pandemic has definitely changed how we approach our services.”
FBG uses EPA registered disinfectants that are approved to kill the SARSCoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 and apply the disinfectant through an Electrostatic Disinfection System (EDS). The full room spray application can be applied as a preventive treatment or in response to a suspected or positive COVID case. The spray provides disinfectant coverage on all surfaces and because of the electrostatic nature of delivery, it treats all surface areas, seen and unseen. Occupants can resume work almost immediately after the application.
