Empowerment Network Manages Healthy Village Collaborative for COVID-19 Resources

The Empowerment Network (empoweromaha.com) is the managing partner for the Healthy Village Collaborative, created to connect residents in north and south Omaha with valuable information, resources, and opportunities associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and Omaha residents’ needs. That includes physical and behavioral/mental health services, food, jobs, job training, utility assistance, housing—including rental assistance, foreclosure prevention, and eviction prevention—and personal protection equipment, or PPE. All of the information and contacts are available in a single online location, at empoweromaha.com/hvc.

Supported by Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, partners include four health representatives: Charles Drew Health Center, North Omaha Area Health, Center for Holistic Development, and the One World Health Center. Others partners include the Village Ambassadors and food partners Omaha Economic Development , Fair Deal Village Marketplace, No More Empty Pots, and Whispering Roots. Participation by Douglas County, the Metro Area Continuum of Care for the Homeless, and Family Housing Advisory Services (FHAS) provides assistance for renters, homebuyer education, foreclosures, financial education and savings, the Fair Housing Center, tax preparation, mortgage loans, and more. Finally, Step-Up Omaha and the Empowerment Network are providing extensive employment and job-training resources, leveraging the Urban League of Nebraska, Heartland Workforce Solutions, and Metropolitan Community College.

The Empowerment Network promotes working together to transform the economic condition and quality of life of African Americans, North Omaha residents, and the citizens of the Greater Omaha area.
