A Scottish immigrant (of less than a year) and local resident have teamed up to bring new life to The Tavern in Omaha’s Old Market. After purchasing The Old Market Tavern, Dave Haverkamp and David Kerr ran the bar for a few months to see what worked and what could be improved upon. Keeping with the feel of the Old Market history they installed several antique pieces along with repurposed doors and furniture to give the bar an eclectic but true pub feel. This included furnishings that are period appropriate for the 1885 building, such as a 1905 antique Brunswick bar. Bright tiles from Mexico and stylistic lighting add color and create a classic yet contemporary interior design. The pair worked tirelessly to pull all the plans together with the help of interior designer, Paul Hanson of DesignedTo.com.  As part of the acquisition, Haverkamp and Kerr have rebranded the bar from the previous name, The Old Market Tavern to simply, The Tavern. The grand reopening took place on September 14th where the new name, logo and interior design were revealed.

The Tavern, at 514 South 10th Street is open Monday through Sunday from 4:00p.m. to 2:00a.m.  For more information about The Tavern, contact David Kerr at (402) 699-0485 or by email at david@thetavernomaha.com.  You can also find them on Facebook and Twitter!
