Meet William Vodvarka, director of business development and owner at MarbleLife of Omaha and Lincoln.

Tell us a little about your business.

MarbleLife (www.marblelife-omaha.com) is a hard stone, tile, and concrete restoration company. We specialize in taking your existing marble, granite, terrazzo, tile, concrete, and other natural stones and restoring them back to their original shine and color. Our innovative process involves cleaning, honing and polishing beautiful stone using proprietary solutions and products. Our goal is to listen to our clients, articulate the desired final result, and then execute the restoration plan to the delight of the customer!

How did you get started in the business?

I have always wanted to own my own business and after being successful in corporate America, I decided to invest in MarbleLife. I have a passion for building relationships, so I love meeting with potential customers and hearing about their home or business and their story. Working with a client to find the right solution to their problem is my favorite part of the job. It is motivating to hear their excitement about our work and gives me confidence in what we do to help their home or business life. MarbleLife is a business that fills a gap in service providers in Omaha and doesn’t produce a lot of waste, which is positive for the environment. The franchise has been in business for over 30 years which gives me the support, tools, proprietary products, and all the expertise to provide the best possible solutions here in Omaha. I also own an old home in the middle of town and love the charm. A lot of these old stones and countertops bring the same appeal to me where they can be restored to their original quality whether in a new build or an old home.

Tell us a little about your family.

My wife is in franchise marketing and works with companies just like the MarbleLife brand. We have been married for almost 12 years and have two elementary age boys who keep us very busy! I am originally from Nebraska and my wife is from Kansas, but we both met here in Omaha in college. We loved the city so much, we decided to set down our roots here. We love the people, the honest way of living, and all of the opportunities in Omaha and look forward to all that comes next!

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

I love to play, watch, and coach soccer. I think it is critical to keep active so even if soccer isn’t an option, I enjoy running, playing catch with my sons, and doing work around the yard. Through the pandemic, we’ve also started quite a few projects in our own home and are looking forward to showing it off post-pandemic.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be?

Empathetic. Putting yourself is another person’s shoes is a difficult skill to truly accomplish. I feel like being empathetic is a goal that we should all strive for. At work, my empathy helps with determining what a customer is looking for in our services.

What is your favorite local restaurant?

I love Butterfish in Blackstone, Dario’s Brasserie in Dundee, Au Courant in Benson, and of course the Crescent Moon has always been a staple!

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be?

The stoic philosopher and Roman emperor, Marcus Aurelius.
