Two Men And A Truck of Omaha is a full service moving company. From supplying moving boxes and packing supplies and doing a full pack and move cross country to doing as little as coming in and moving furniture around a customer’s house, the company strives to be a role model in the industry, and this is reflected in everything they do. Tyler Whalen is the co-owner of the Two Men And A Truck Omaha franchise

How did you get started in the business? – I graduated college with two degrees but the economy was down and most employers were looking for strong resumes and not so much college experience. I saw an ad on Craigslist that the local Two Men And A Truck was hiring for movers and drivers so I applied. When I took the job I had only planned on it being part time until I found something in my field of education. After being with Two Men And A Truck for about a year I received a promotion and began to see the big picture with the company.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Knowing what I wanted to do for a career but trying to find the right city to go to. Right now there is over 330 Two Men And A Truck locations in the U.S. Locations don’t come up for sale very often but when they do it’s usually a quick sale. When I heard that the Omaha location was for sale, which is only four hours from my hometown, I knew it was the place I wanted to go.

Tell us a little about your family. – I got married to my wife Amber in October of 2014. We have a little guy, Toby, who will be 1 year old in August. My wife’s support of Two Men And A Truck is amazing which makes my life a lot easier! We have made several moves around the country for the company but I think she’s pretty happy here in Omaha where we plan to stay.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I love to be outside and in the country on days that I can get away. Any day I can escape the office and do some fishing or hunting is a win in my book!

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I raced IMCA Sport Compacts for seven years in southeast Iowa dirt tracks. During that time I ran for IMCA National points one year and finished in the top 5 in addition to three track championships and over 50 feature wins.

What are you the most proud of? – Starting at the very bottom of the totem pole and working my way up to franchisee of a major market. It also makes be very proud that we employ 60 individuals and the paychecks they earn here enable them to improve their own lives.

What local non-profit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – Toys for Tots; I love that we can help them to ensure thousands of kids get something special for Christmas.
