Meet Joe Pitzl, president of Pitzl Contracting (facebook.com/p/Pitzl-Contracting-LLC-100057547972329).

Tell us a little about your business. – Pitzl Contracting is a family run concrete company. Current services range from concrete removal, concrete repair, driveways, patios, garage floors, pool decks, sidewalks and pathways, concrete slabs and flat work, parking lots, stamped and stained concrete and steps for commercial and residential services. During the winter months, we offer snow removal services for properties around the Omaha area.

We care about building relationships and go out of our way to make sure that all employees and clients feel as though they are part of our family. We take great pride in doing a great job on a project because we properly trained our employees and took the time to do it right.

How did you get started in the business? – I have been working with concrete my whole adult life. My dad owned his own business and always pushed me to start my own. I worked for various companies throughout my career and gained valuable experience. Upon my dad’s passing, I decided the best way to honor his memory was to do what he always believed I could, and that’s how Pitzl Contracting was started in 2020.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – The weather is our biggest barrier, the rain, wind and temperature impact each day’s ability to complete projects.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – How fast Pitzl Contracting has grown and the respect and acknowledgement I get from the community for the great work we do. I take great pride in teaching employees to do great work from start to finish.

Tell us a little about your family. – Family is the most important aspect of my life. We gather for meals, holidays, and events. It is also important that our employees feel like they are part of the Pitzl family.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Golfing or boating.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I’m a really nice guy. I can come across as stern, but I would give anyone the shirt off my back.

Who inspires you? – My dad and my grandpa.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – To join the 4:30 a.m. club. Getting up early lets you have more time in your day. I now wake up at 4:30 a.m. every day.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Giving.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – “Omaha” by Counting Crows.

If you could have one super power, what would it be? – To fly. I could go anywhere I want.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – I love the stock market and would love to trade all day long.

What is your favorite Omaha restaurant? – J Gilbert’s.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Elon Musk.
