Temperatures are rising and Stephen Center (www.stephencenter.org) is now collecting bottled water in preparation.
Water is always in demand at Stephen Center, but it is imperative to bulk the supply as the warmer months approach. The high temperatures of summer pose a significant risk to anyone exposed, specifically people experiencing homelessness as they navigate through the process of finding permanent housing. Water is an essential item for the safety, well-being and success of clients at Stephen Center.
“The majority of people served through Stephen Center programming are on foot as they tend to their schedule.” said Executive Director Michael Wehling. “Whether they are employment seeking, going to appointments or going to work, we want to help people avoid dangerous consequences of heat exposure by keeping them properly hydrated. Our community was generous last year, and we call on them again now to help us accomplish our mission.”
Donations can be brought to the Donation Center located on the south side of the 2723 Q Street building. The Donation Center is open daily from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Water can also be donated through Stephen Center’s wish list accessible on at www.stephencenter.org. Please contact the donation center at (402) 715-5478 for further information.
