The Sarpy County Museum has hired Nebraska native Tess Sykes to assist with promotions, events and membership. Sykes has 16 years of journalism and marketing experience with regional and local publications. From 2001-2005, she was a reporter and featured writer in Pagosa Springs, CO. Since returning to Nebraska, she has worked in corporate communications for an international company and then as a freelance writer and editor based in Sarpy County specializing in business news, website copy and newsletters.

“We have so much to offer here at the museum, from our permanent exhibits, to a growing list of special events and tours, to space for strategic planning or board meetings, we recognized that it was time to bring on additional staff to handle communications and further support our membership,” Ben Justman, executive director, said.

Sykes received a degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with minors in history, biology and Native American studies. She is currently working on an education degree from the College of Saint Mary. She can be reached at (402) 292-1880 or info@sarpycountymuseum.org.
