Sarah Gudeman, PE, CEM, LEED AP BD+C, recently joined Energy Studio in a mechanical engineering role to help the firm expand its energy efficiency services to include existing buildings.

Energy Studio, based in Omaha, NE, specializes in helping architects, engineers, developers and building owners maximize efficiency and minimize costs. The company has historically focused on applying energy modeling to new construction projects during design, but recently set a goal to make a large, positive impact on the existing building sector, which accounts for nearly half of all energy consumed in the United States. Energy Studio hopes to connect with building owners who want to understand where their energy, and therefore their money, is being spent over time. Buildings that have their utility bills routinely analyzed save 2.5 percent a year, on average, and any building five years or older is a potential candidate for energy optimization and improvement.

With a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University, Gudeman comes to Energy Studio from Omaha’s Morrissey Engineering. She is a member of the USGBC Nebraska Flatwater Chapter, American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers and American Society of Energy Engineers. Gudeman is a Registered Professional Engineer in the states of Nebraska and Iowa, Certified Energy Manager, LEED Accredited Professional (BD+C), and Certified Building Science Thermographer.
