The Gretna Crossing YMCA of YMCA of Greater Omaha (metroymca.org) recently joined communities around the world as an official host site for the 17th Annual World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™, providing free water safety education to local families. For the second consecutive year, the YMCA welcomed participants of all ages for two introductory 30-minute lessons focused on essential water safety skills and drowning prevention.
The event was made possible through a $4,000 grant from the Gretna Community Foundation, allowing the YMCA to offer this important program at no cost to participants.
“Water safety is a lifesaving skill that every child and family should have access to,” said Brandon Brugger, Executive Director of the Gretna Crossing YMCA. “Thanks to the generous support of the Gretna Community Foundation, we’re proud to provide this opportunity free of charge and help more families build confidence in and around the water. Even a single lesson can make a meaningful difference.”
The Gretna Crossing YMCA hopes to continue growing participation each year, expanding access to water safety education throughout the community.
