On Thursday, August 20, United Way of the Midlands (UWM) (unitedwaymidlands.org) will officially kick off its 2026-2027 campaign at the Scott Conference Center on the University of Nebraska-Omaha campus. The annual campaign plays a critical role in maintaining a strong network of nonprofit programs and direct services that help people through life’s challenges and create opportunities for families across the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro to thrive.

The event will feature a continental breakfast and remarks from 2026-2027 Campaign Chair and CEO of Scoular Paul Maass and United Way of the Midlands President and CEO Shawna Forsberg – and local business leaders and community members are all invited to attend.

Hosted by Scoular, the morning will also include a Community Impact Panel Discussion, featuring individuals from local nonprofits who will share firsthand perspectives on challenges facing families in the metro and how UWM-funded programs are making an impact.

“In a fluid landscape of rising demand and shifting resources, UWM continues to bring people, resources and organizations together to respond to ever-changing needs,” said Forsberg. “We are so excited to launch the next campaign with Paul and Julie Maass and the team at Scoular leading the way. The team they have brought together will inspire more people to get involved, give back and turn their care for community into results that make a difference.”
