Santa Monica House (www.santamonicahouse.org) is excited for the Hands Across the Bridge to celebrate National Recovery Month Saturday, September 16, from 10 to 11 a.m. The celebration will be at the Iowa side of the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge where collectively the annual Hands Across the Bridge is held. The event is packed with energy, donuts and coffee, speakers, music and joining hands as they span the pedestrian bridge from Nebraska to Iowa to show addiction does not stop at the bridge and that the community is united in recovery. The event is hosted by Heartland Family Service in partnership with community agencies like Santa Monica.

Founded in 1972, Santa Monica has partnered with over 3,000 women on their journey to recovery from addiction and alcoholism. Reuniting families, reintegrating women to the community and providing exceptional service has been the vision of Santa Monica and continues to be for the future. Santa Monica provides an Intermediate Residential program, Halfway House program with a step-down level of care to a 3/4 way house and an 11-unit apartment building for women and children. Peer Support Recovery services are available for the 3/4 way and apartment programs. Starting July 1, Santa Monica House will provide chemical dependency evaluations.
