Starting with just four blind associates producing paper products in 2000, Outlook Nebraska (outlooken.org) has grown to be Nebraska’s largest employer of blind and low-vision individuals with 75 associates. As the sole toilet paper manufacturer with a global reach, Outlook Nebraska has built its facility around accessibility. Because Outlook Nebraska has implemented leading-edge programs that help our blind and low-vision community members be independent, build skills and socialize, the organization has been recognized with the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award for Innovation.
Outlook Nebraska has revamped its workplace to enable blind and visually impaired associates to thrive — from color-coded floor surfaces to adaptive machinery with voice commands, audio prompts and large-screen interfaces.
“Our mission at Outlook is to meet blind and low-vision people where they are to empower them in their career and personal life. Simple changes can be made to achieve accessibility; we are available to help organizations achieve the goal of workplace accessibility,” says Eric Stueckrath, President and CEO of Outlook Collaborative (Outlook Nebraska and Outlook Enrichment).
In 2025, Outlook Nebraska completed the largest initiative in its 25-year history: the installation of a new Bretting Multifold machine. The high-speed automated machine can produce 850 cases of bathroom paper towels per shift, nearly six times the previous capacity. The new equipment expanded job opportunities for blind and low vision associates and reflects Outlook Nebraska’s commitment. More information can be found at outlooken.org.
