Outlook Enrichment (outlooken.org) is celebrating its recent Outlook Explorers: Journey Beyond Sight Camp, where blind and low-vision campers had the time of their life experiencing adventurous activities the week of July 19-24. Some campers were away from home for the first time.
Kids who once thought a rock wall or an archery target was out of reach found the courage to try anyway, cheered on by counselors. Campers competed in goalball and beep kickball, tackled the TreeRush Adventure ropes course and closed the week with a talent show.
These adventures were made possible by Outlook Enrichment’s Tee It Up Fore Sight Golf Tournament supporters, as proceeds from the annual golf tourney helped create a week of firsts and fun for the campers.
That same spirit continues Nov. 5 at Outlook Enrichment’s Vision Beyond Sight Gala at A View West Shores in Waterloo, Neb., marking the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11 and America’s 250th with a veteran’s firsthand account of loss and resilience.
Jeffrey E. Mittman, President & CEO of Bosma Enterprises and a Presidential Appointee to the U.S. AbilityOne Commission, is the featured guest speaker. A retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant, decorated military veteran and nationally recognized advocate for employment opportunities for people who are blind or have significant disabilities, Jeff’s life has been defined by service and resilience.
