Open Door Mission’s Project Santa Provides Christmas Gifts for Thousands of Local Children in Need

This holiday season, Open Door Mission served thousands of low income families in the Heartland through its Project Santa program. Each year this program gathers donations in order to provide Christmas gifts for children ages 0-18 in need. The gifts were then distributed on December 19th during Open Door Mission’s Drive Thru Christmas.

“Poverty is devastating enough, especially during the holidays,” says Candace Gregory, President/CEO. “It is Open Door Mission’s desire to bring joy to the poor while empowering families to remain in their homes and prevent homelessness.”

“For many of these families, these are children who would otherwise have had nothing to open on Christmas Day,” said Gregory. “Just knowing that, thanks to the generosity of the community, many children in the Heartland were able to experience the joy of Christmas in their own homes brings joy to our hearts!”

Open Door Mission is a Gospel Rescue Mission that provides 816 men, women, and children with safe shelter beds, serves more than 2,000 hot nutritious meals, and provides preventative measures to more than 275 families living in poverty. Open Door Mission offers life-changing programs for those recovering from life-altering addictions and abuse to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.
