Open Door Mission Seeks Support for $10 Turkey ‘N’ Fixin’s for Hungry, Homeless

The Open Door Mission (opendoormission.org) is set to host its annual Turkey ‘N’ Fixin’s Drive at Hy-Vee stores in Omaha and Council Bluffs November 6-8 to raise money to feed the Heartland’s hungry and homeless this holiday season. Stop by Hy-Vee stores in Omaha and Council Bluffs to buy a $10 “Fixin’s” bag during the drive to help the Mission prepare to provide nearly 285,000 nutritious meals for people in need. First National Bank of Omaha will donate an addition $3 toward turkeys for every bag sold, up to $3,000.

“We expect to serve more people than ever due to this challenging year and we can’t do this without our generous community,” said Open Door Mission President and CEO Candace Gregory. “We thank our community partners, like Hy-Vee, First National Bank of Omaha, KETV, and Boomer Radio for caring for our neediest neighbors.”

Open Door Mission is a Gospel Rescue Mission founded in 1954 and committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty. Each day, Open Door Mission’s campus offers 917 safe shelter beds to people experiencing homelessness, serves more than 4,750 nutritious meals to feed the hungry, and provides homeless preventive resources to more than 1,000 people living in poverty to empower them to remain in their own homes.
