Omaha Gives! Returns May 24th

A record 920 community nonprofits will participate in the fifth annual Omaha Gives! celebration on May 24, 2017. The 24-hour event, hosted by the Omaha Community Foundation, is the metro area’s only day of giving. The entire community is invited to celebrate—and give big—at www.OmahaGives.org.

This year marks the fifth Omaha Gives!, which is presented by American National Bank. Since its inception in 2013, the giving day has raised more than $27 million for nonprofit organizations throughout Douglas, Sarpy, and Pottawattamie Counties.

The minimum donation starts at $10—an amount that encourages anyone in the community to participate in the giving day, and for donors to be able to spread their gifts across organizations. Last year, nearly 19,000 individuals gave 46,251 donations during the charitable holiday. In total, Omaha Gives! raised almost $9 million in 2016 for 789 area nonprofits serving the metropolitan community.

As in past years, gifts will be amplified through participation and hourly prizes. In recognition of Omaha Gives!’ fifth anniversary, the number of hourly prizes has been doubled this year to allow more nonprofits to benefit. Nonprofits can also raise challenge funds to match donor giving—last year organizations successfully raised more than $550,000 in challenge funds. Individuals can also support favorite nonprofit organizations by creating their own Cheer Pages to maximize giving amongst their personal networks.

Leading the way for Omaha Gives!, the Omaha Community Foundation proud to let good grow in Omaha by helping more than 1,400 donors facilitate their charitable giving. Since the Foundation’s inception in 1982, donors have granted almost $1.4 billion to area nonprofits, supporting more than 3,000 local charities.
