NeighborGood (neighborgoodpantry.org) announced it has received $35,000 from Google to significantly upgrade its technology infrastructure. This vital funding will support Phase 1 of NeighborGood’s technology plan, ensuring the organization can meet the dramatically increasing demand for services and better connect Sarpy County residents with essential digital resources. The grant directly supports NeighborGood’s transition into its new 9,100 sq. ft. facility near 66th and Cornhusker Road in Papillion. The new technology will be used for essential upgrades, including:

  • Establishing a Digital Foundation: Funds will provide the necessary hardware, updated pantry software subscriptions, and a monitored security system for building and staff safety.
  • Bridging the Digital Divide: Upgraded Wi-Fi speeds and connectivity will be deployed throughout the building, including a separate, secure guest Wi-Fi login to provide pantry clients with internet access. This is a critical first step toward future digital skills training and online learning programs.
  • Streamlining Operations: Replacing the current baseline, minimal digital infrastructure with modern systems will allow NeighborGood to optimize food pantry effectiveness and increase the ability to serve underserved communities.

This support aligns Google’s commitment to its data center communities, including bridging the digital divide, promoting digital skills, and fostering sustainable infrastructure. The collaboration will immediately expand access and connectivity for marginalized groups, enhances data protection, and streamlines pantry operations.

This generous support will reinforce Google’s commitment to the local Sarpy County community. More information can be found at neighborgoodpantry.org.
