The Nebraska Safety Council (www.nesafetycouncil.org) along with other partners is bringing the Ford Driving Skills for Life experience to Lincoln.  Over 40 new drivers between the ages of 16 and 18 will have the opportunity to participate in a series of activities including driving courses, simulators, and classroom instruction.  The students will be learning more about distracted driving, impaired driving, why to always wear a seatbelt, and hazard recognition.  The event will be held in Lincoln at the Haymarket Park on June 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Lunch is provided and the teens will have a chance at $250 scholarships.

Teen drivers are the most at-risk population on the road – they represent less than 8% of licensed drivers but are involved in nearly 30% of fatal and injury crashes in Nebraska.  Hands-on experience in a safe setting can make a vital difference in the habits formed by new drivers.  Register at: http://www.safenebraska.org/conferences-events/ford-driving-skills-event/.
