Midlands Latino Community Development Corporation Earns State Economic Grant

The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) awarded a $100,000 grant to the Midlands Latino Community Development Corporation (MLCDC; www.midlandslatinocdc.org) for microenterprise lending.

The Microenterprise Lending Program funds will be used for direct lending to eligible microenterprise businesses. Only $5,000 of the grant amount may be used for general administration expenses.

The Business Innovation Act defines eligible microenterprise businesses as for-profit business entities with no more than 10 full-time equivalent employees.

“It is a great honor to work in partnership with the NDED for the development of micro-enterprises in the state of Nebraska,” said Marta Sonia Londoño Mejía, executive director of MLCDC. “This grant is crucial for the present and future of our organization.”

The Midlands Latino Community Development Corporation (www.midlandslatinocdc.org) provides Latinos and low-income communities with opportunities to generate economic growth by providing financing products, development services and community development that advances their ability to develop a sustainable future in the Midlands.
