“Kids Build” Weekend Workshops Offered at Carpenters Training Center

Beginning in November, the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters (www.northcountrycarpenter.org) has opened the doors of its brand new training center in Papillion, NE to the community in the form of “Kids Build” weekend workshops.

Kids Build events are two-hour workshops held from 10 a.m. to noon one Saturday per month through May 2016 for children ages 5-12. At these workshops, kids will have the opportunity to make wood projects, as well as build their skills and confidence.

The workshops are limited to 30 kids each month, who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Council staff and members will be on hand to help children make their projects and learn new skills. Projects may include the following: small bench, bookends, tool box, pinewood derby car, key holder/jewelry hanger, candy dispenser, planter or birdhouse.

Tools will be supplied and there are no fees to participate. Children will be able to take their projects home to enjoy, along with a certificate of project completion.

“Kids Build” workshops are held at 10761 Virginia Plaza in Papillion. The next workshop will be held on December 12. In 2016, events will be held January 9, February 13, March 12, April 9 and May 14.
