Keep Nebraska Beautiful (KNB), a Nebraska nonprofit dedicated to enhancing, preserving and beautifying Nebraska, hosted its annual KNB Conference from June 3-5, in Lincoln. This year’s theme, “Greatest Nebraskan Conference,” brought together local Keep America Beautiful affiliates, environmental advocates and industry experts for three days of information, inspiration and connection building!
The conference opened with National Litter Study updates from Keep America Beautiful and an in-depth session on K-12 litter and environmental education from Keep Omaha Beautiful. Attendees later engaged in a lively dialogue with Senator Jana Hughes (District 24) and Senator Stan Clouse (District 37) on natural resource management and legislation.
Day two shifted focus to hands-on learning, featuring new opportunities in textile recycling with The Clothing Fund, news in battery recycling & EPR led by Kent Holm, Director of Douglas County Environmental Services, and working sessions for new Nebraska affiliates. The Evening with KNB offered a relaxed networking opportunity at James Arthur Vineyards, where participants connected with KNB supporters.
The final day included working sessions and a recycling page review thesis presentation from Haley Nolde, MSc. With great attendance and enthusiastic participation, the conference set the stage for meaningful local action just in time for America 250!
