This holiday season, Open Door Mission and Lydia House will provide more than 150,000 hot, nutritious meals to the hungry and homeless in the Heartland.  In order to sustain these efforts, they will need assistance from the Omaha community during the month of October.  The “Trick or Treat So Others Can Eat” Food Drive needs individuals and businesses in Omaha and surrounding areas to host a drive or donate food items.  The urgent food items include canned vegetables, instant mashed potatoes, canned fruit, boxed meals and canned meat.  You can sign up to host a drive at www.opendoormission.org.

Additionally, Open Door Mission will host their Ladle of Love Festival on October 20th where members of the community can enjoy soup tasting, art displays created by their homeless guests and live music from the Prairie Gator Band.  For restaurants who would like to partner with Open Door Mission for this event, please contact Celeste Norman at (402) 422-1111 ext. 1508 or email cnorman@opendoormission.org.
