Community members are invited to help Educare of Omaha, Inc. (educareomaha.org) build its library of dual language books for infant, toddler and preschool classrooms during the It Takes Two Book Drive this back-to-school season.
Dual language books help young children build early reading skills while also supporting home language, culture and family connection. When children see and hear more than one language in the classroom, it helps them feel included, valued and ready to learn. These books also give teachers more tools to support children as they grow their vocabulary, listening skills and love of reading.
“Back-to-school season is a great time to make sure our classrooms have the books and materials children need to learn,” Executive Director Rafel O. Hart said. “Dual language books help children learn new words, celebrate their home language and culture, and build strong early literacy skills. They also help families feel welcome and represented in our classrooms.”
To participate in the drive, community members can shop Educare of Omaha’s Amazon Wish List and ship books directly to the organization at a.co/05aK3ACI.
