Horses of Honor® Omaha Raises Over $133K, Statues Moved to Permanent Homes

Horses of Honor® Omaha, a tribute to Omaha’s fallen police officers, has entered a new and final phase of meaningful community impact. The eight life-sized horses – each thoughtfully designed by an Omaha-area artist – have been purchased, along with a statue of K-9 Kobus, in most cases by original sponsors. The total proceeds – $133,284 – will benefit the Omaha Police Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization working to ensure Omaha officers have the training and equipment they need to prevent crime, save lives and make Omaha a safer city. The Omaha Police Foundation Board of Directors and Police Chief Todd Schmaderer are in the initial stages of determining how to utilize the funds.

Horses of Honor® Omaha debuted on May 20, 2016, exactly one year after the devastating loss of Detective Kerrie Orozco. The horses and K-9 Kobus statue were stationed along the Trail of Heroes throughout Omaha’s Turner Park. In late March, they were moved to CenturyLink Center Omaha and displayed in conjunction with the Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping & FEI World Cup™ Dressage Finals Omaha 2017. The statues are now at or en route to their final destinations, designated by their new owners:
