HETRA Offers Two Free Monthly Programs for Veterans, Active Military, and Families

The Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy (HETRA); (hetra.org) now is offering veterans’ wellness coaching and new monthly equine-experience events for veterans, active military, spouses, significant others, caregivers, and other immediate family members. The equine-experience events are designed to engage participants’ senses, teach communication techniques, and discover how equine partners can assist with reintegration. HETRA offers beginner, advanced, and family events. Veteran wellness coaching is aimed specifically at veterans and their spouses, with HETRA Mental Health Therapist and Veteran Kelli Hatzenbuehler working with participants on personal and relationship development, as well as creating a healthy work-life balance.

The Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy comprises a team of dedicated instructors, occupational, physical, and mental-health therapists, a band of dedicated volunteers, and 22 wonderful therapy horses. They work to improve the lives of children and adults living with disabilities, as well as veterans and their families. Registration for HETRA services is required at hetra.org.
