Grief’s Journey to Host 5th Annual Grief Awareness Conference

Grief’s Journey (www.griefsjourney.org) will host their 5th Annual Grief Awareness Conference on Thursday, November 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Creighton University’s Harper Center (602 N. 20th St.). There will be a keynote speaker at both breakfast and lunch, along with a wide variety of breakout sessions. The breakfast keynote will be Michelle Steinke-Baumgard with One Fit Widow, speaking on the topic of Healthy Healing. The luncheon keynote will be Jea Theis and Betsy Funk from the Omaha Therapy and Arts Collaborative with a presentation titled “Managing Compassion Fatigue & Burnout Through the Use of Expressive Arts.”

A full day registration is $135 for students; $95 for Grief’s Journey facilitators. There is also the option to pay for an individual keynote speaker ticket for just $35 per presentation. For students, this conference meets the criteria for up to six continuing education credits.

Since 2001, Grief’s Journey has provided a welcoming, safe place for grieving children, teens, and adults to offer each other hope and support. Grief’s Journey provides free peer support groups and camps as well as training, education, and consultation throughout Nebraska and Iowa.
