Midlands Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Dr. Mary Hawkins will serve as Honorary Chair of its 2015 Reflection Ball on Jan. 17, 2015, at the Embassy Suites in La Vista.

The Reflection Ball proceeds will benefit the Military Veterans Fund, a designated fund established at Midlands Community Foundation. Donations to the fund will be distributed to various military and veterans organizations for veterans, families and caregiver services, including medical assistance, community programs or events, remembering those who served, and education and job training to transition back to civilian life.

Dr. Hawkins is President of Bellevue University. Since her arrival in 1995, Bellevue University enrollment experienced record growth and has been consistently ranked as one of the nation’s best online learning and military friendly institutions. She led the development and implementation of the university’s Cyber-Active Learning model, one of the first and most effective online learning systems in the U.S.

Dr. Hawkins is a strong advocate for community service and invests her time in several local and national organizations including the Oracle Higher Education and Research Industry Strategy Council, United Way of the Midlands, the Nebraska Independent College Foundation, Community Colleges for International Development, the Boy Scouts of America-Wagon Wheel District, and the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce.
