Dads Appreciating Down Syndrome (DADS) Omaha (dadsomaha.org) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering and supporting fathers and families of individuals with Down syndrome. Founded in April, 2008, DADS Omaha is one of over 50 chapters nationwide, built on the pillars of Support, Fellowship, and Action. The organization provides fathers with a strong peer network, valuable educational resources, and opportunities to engage in meaningful advocacy.

From January to October, DADS Omaha hosts support meetings on the last Thursday of each month. Fathers have the opportunity to share experiences, challenges, and milestones, as well as hear from expert speakers who provide guidance on development, financial planning, social services and more. Coffee gatherings in November and December give fathers a casual opportunity to connect and support each other over the holiday season. In addition, the organization’s flagship fundraising event, Divots for Down Syndrome, is an annual golf outing that raises crucial funds for DADS Omaha’s mentorship programs, scholarships, and essential family resources. The next Divots for Down Syndrome event will take place on September 11.

Beyond meetings, DADS Omaha fosters a strong sense of community through family-friendly events, including sporting outings, summer picnics, and holiday celebrations, all provided at no cost to DADS families, ensuring accessibility for all who need support. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, DADS Omaha relies on donations and community support to continue its mission. Contributions are tax-deductible and directly impact families raising individuals with Down syndrome.
