Stephen Center (Stephencenter.org) is proud to launch its fifth annual Back-to-School Campaign, during the first week of August, prior to the start of the school year, helping children living in its Emergency Shelter and Permanent Supportive Housing program begin the school year with confidence. Through the campaign, community members and businesses can sponsor a child for $200, providing a personalized shopping experience for new school clothes, shoes, a backpack and essential supplies.
Unlike a traditional school supply drive, each child is paired with a volunteer and given the opportunity to shop for the items they need most, fostering confidence, dignity and excitement for the new school year. For many children, it is the first time they have been able to choose their own clothing and school supplies.
Local businesses are encouraged to sponsor one child, several children or an entire family while also providing volunteer teams to participate in the shopping event. Every sponsorship directly equips a child with the tools needed for a successful school year while creating a memorable experience that reminds them their community believes in their future.
Stephen Center hopes to sponsor approximately 25 children this year and welcomes community partners interested in making a lasting impact before the first day of school. For more information, please visit Stephencenter.org or call (402) 731-0238.
