Autism Action Partnership (AutismAction.org) is partnering with Omaha Public Library to bring inclusion to the Omaha area, demonstrating a strong commitment to inclusion and to welcoming individuals and families affected by autism.
As part of its initiative to educate local businesses and organizations, Autism Action Partnership will provide the Omaha Public Library’s staff with access to the Everyday Inclusion: Welcoming Neurodivergent Guests course. The virtual, on-demand training equips community organizations with practical tools to better support neurodivergent guests and foster inclusive environments.
“At Omaha Public Library, we strive to provide a positive and welcoming experience to all library visitors, and are pleased to partner with Autism Action Partnership to prepare our staff to support neurodivergent patrons,” says Jeff McWhorter, senior manager of branches at OPL. “Access and inclusivity have long been central to the work of the public library. This partnership helps our organization grow in this area and improves how we support our community as a trusted resource for information and innovative services.”
The Everyday Inclusion: Welcoming Neurodivergent Guests course is a virtual, on-demand training designed to help community venues, organizations, and individuals create more welcoming and inclusive experiences for neurodivergent guests, with a focus on individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This actionable training provides practical strategies for making arts, entertainment, sports, recreation, and other community spaces more accessible and inclusive. Participants gain knowledge and tools to support neurodivergent individuals and their families, helping ensure all guests feel valued, respected, and included.
